CHENGDU -- The remains of a Japanese mountaineer, who lost his life 26 years ago while scaling Gongga Shan (Minya Konka) in 1981, was found and identified with his belongings at the Swallow Valley (Yanzi Gou) of the mountain in China's western province of Sichuan.

Gao Min, deputy secretary general of the Sichuan Mountaineering Association, confirmed to Xinhua Tuesday morning that "the remains were found on June 9, which belonged to the eight Japanese mountaineers who lost their lives 26 years ago."

Resulted by a serious conflict between Yading construction contractor and some horsemen,  Daocheng Tourism Bureau made an important announcement on May 11, 2007, which states that, for the infrastructure construction project and environment-protection purpose in Yading Nature Reserve, the path from Chonggu Lodge to Luorong Pasture will be blocked from May 15,2007 on.

An avalanche killed 2  tourists and injured another 6, including 1 seriously, in Yubeng, Deqin of southwest China's Yunnan Province.

The avalanche occurred at about 3:00pm on Wednesday, May 2, near the Sacred Waterfall in Yubeng  of the Meili Snow Mountain Scenic Zone, about 10km northeast of Deqin County. Rescuers had to first carried the injured people to Yubeng village about two hours' walk from the spot to receive medical treatment, as there is no highway linking the spot with the county seat.
