Access: Lhasa to Tingri via Gyantse and Shigatse

Vehicle: Take connection buses to Tingri and rent a jeep to the Everest Reserve from Tingri. If you want a more comforatable journey, you can rent a jeep from Lhasa to Mt. Everest, around Y8000 for a 10 days round trip.(as of end of 2006)

Max. Elevation: 5200m(Base camp) / 6500m(Advance Base Camp)

Best Season: Apr.~Oct.

Start/Finish: Tingri

Itineraray:

D1-3: Lhasa
Arrival and Sightseeing at Lhasa, the main points of interests incl. Potala Palace, Jorkhang Temple, Barkor Street, Drepung & Sera Monastery

D4 Lhasa - Gyantse
Take a bus ride to Gyantse. Visit Zongshan Ruins and Kumbum Monastery in Gyantse. overnight  in Gyantse Hotel.

D5 Gyantse - Shigatse
95km to Shigatse from Gyantse, the second largest city of Tibet. overnight in Shigatse Hotel or local Tibetan typical guesthouse. Visit Tahilunpo Monastery, the New Palace of Banchan and the market .

D6 Shigatse - Tingri
250km on sparry road to Tingri. Enjoy the western Tibetan Typical Nature landscape. Lodging in Old Tingri.

D7 Tingri - Everest Base Camp
Drive 100km to the Base Camp. The road condition is so terrible that it takes 4-6 hours to arrive only by a land cruiser. Lodging in the Base camp.

D8 Advance Bace Camp of Mt.Everest
Trekking from Base Camp to Advance Base Camp of Mt.Everest.

D9 Advance Bace Camp - Base Camp of Mt.Everest
Trekking back from Advence Base Camp to Base Camp

D10 Trekking to Rongbuk Monastery
Trekking to Rongbuk, which situated at the foot of Mt. Everest, it's also regarded as the highest monastery in the world with the altitude of 5100m. Lodging is around Y20/night

D11 Base Camp - Old Tingri, end of the trek.
